The process of rearing silk for silk production is known as Sericulture.
Silk is a natural fibre that is obtained from silkworms. The process of rearing silkworms for the production of silk is known as Sericulture. The healthiest of silk moths are chosen for breeding and laying eggs. The eggs are washed and stored at the proper temperature. The larvae are spread out on a tray and are fed on mulberry leaves. Racks or twigs are placed when they can make spic cocoon. The cocoon is put into boiling water to loosen the filaments. The filaments are taken out by the process called reeling.
