Filature is the process through which the filaments from the cocoon are taken out. The cocoons are put in sunlight or in boiling water this kills the silkworm inside and loosens the filatures to obtain silk thread. These filaments are then twisted together to form strong threads. The threads are dyed and woven into fabric.
