Ethanoic acid is an organic compound that belongs to the carboxyl group. It is acidic in nature as it turns blue litmus paper to red. It is corrosive in nature and produces blisters on the skin if comes in contact with the skin. It has a pungent smell and sour taste. It is a colourless liquid and is miscible in water. When it reacts with sodium it does not evolve hydrogen gas. So it is not a property of ethanoic acid.
