The total length of the string

                  y1+2y2+y3+l0 = l     …(i)

Differentiating w.r.t. time, we get

                   dy1dt+dy2dt+dy3dt = 0

 or                 v1+2v2+v3 = 0        ….(ii)

Also              a1+2a2+a3 = 0         …(iii)

Suppose a1 is upward and a3 is upward, then

            a2 = a1+a32  downward.

By Newton’s second law, we have

for block M1 ;

                         T-M1g = M1a1   …(i)

for block M3 ;

                         T-M3g = M3a3    …(ii)

for block M2 ;

                         M2g-2T = m2a2   …(iii)

Solving above equations we get
