The railway fare in a certain year increases in the ratio 20 : 23 and the number of passengers decrease in the ratio 16 : 13. Find the ratio of the total income from the passengers increase or decrease.

It is  given that the railway fare in a certain year

Total income = Number of passengers $\times$ Railway fare

Total income in starting

Total income = 16y $\times$  20x = 320xy

Total income = 13y $\times$  23x = 299xy

Ratio of the total income is

$Ratio=\frac{320xy}{299xy}=\frac{320}{299}$

$\therefore$ The required ratio is  $\frac{320}{299}$ and total income decrease
