Detailed Solution

The Rajarajeshvara temple is situated at Thanjavur.
King Rajarajadeva built the Rajarajeshwara temple at Thanjavur to honour the deity Rajarajeswaram. Constructing the temple was no easy feat. There were no architects to draw a plan nor cranes to lift the heavy stones for the shikhara. In this temple, the shikhara consisted of stone that weighed around 90 tonnes and had to be lifted manually. Therefore, plenty of time and labour was invested in the temple construction. Amongst temples of its time, the Rajarajeshvara temple had the tallest shikhara.
