Detailed Solution

The Ramanathaswamy Temple is located on Rameswaram Island in Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and an important site of the Char Dham pilgrimage. The temple is famous for its magnificent corridors, considered the longest in any Hindu temple, spanning about 1,200 meters with over 1,200 intricately carved pillars. According to legend, Lord Rama worshipped Shiva here after defeating Ravana, which adds great mythological significance. The temple also features sacred water tanks called "theerthams," where pilgrims take ritual baths. It remains a major pilgrimage destination and a stunning example of Dravidian architecture.
