pH 7 means the solution is neutral, pH less than 7 means the solution is acidic and pH more than 7 means the solution is basic.
The formula to calculate pH is.
pH = -log [H + ]  
Some acidic substances are- tomato juice, vinegar, sulphuric acid, and lemon. Low pH means a more acidic substance, and a pH slightly less than 7 means a weakly acidic substance.
Some basic substances are- ocean water, soap, baking soda, washing soda, ammonia, and bleach. High pH means a more basic substance, pH slightly more than 7 means a weakly basic substance.
