Detailed Solution

Given that the ratio of income of Anil and Mukesh is 2 : 3.

Suppose that Anil income is 2x and Mukesh income is 3x

Given that the sum of their expenditure is 8000 rupees.

suppose that the Anil expenditure is y, so that the Mukesh expenditure is 8000-y

Since the amount of savings of Anil is equal to the amount of expendiutre of Mukesh,

 2x-y=8000-y2x=8000x=4000

Hence the sum of their savings is

2x-y+3x-8000-y=5x-8000 =54000-8000 =20000-8000 =12000

Therefore the sum of their savings is 12,000
