It is given that the ratio 9:7 is the incomes of two persons and the ratio 4:3 is of their expenditures.
Their savings are ₹ 2,000 per month.
Let the income of the first person be 9x and the expenditure be 4y.
Therefore, when the person saves ₹2000 per month,

9 x − 4 y = 2000... 1

Let the income of the second person be 7x and the expenditure be 3y.
Therefore, when the second person saves ₹2000 per month,

7 x − 3 y = 2000 ... 2

From the equations 1 and 2, we can write that,

⇒ 9 x − 4 y = 7 x − 3 y ⇒ 2 x = y

.
Substituting the value of y in equation (1) and finding the value x.

⇒ 9 x − 4 (2 x) = 2000 ⇒ 9 x − 8 x = 2000 ⇒ x = 2000

Putting the value of x in equation 2x=y to calculate the value of y.

⇒ y = 2 x ⇒ y = 2 (2000) ⇒ y = 4000

The income of first person:

= 9 x = 9 × 2000 = R s .18, 000

The income of second person:
=7x
=7

\times 2000

=14000
Therefore, the monthly income of the first and second person are ₹18,000 and ₹14,000 respectively.
Hence, option 1 is correct.
