Detailed Solution

The rearing of silkworms for obtaining silk is called sericulture.
Sericulture is a process of cultivating silkworms and extracting silk from them. In this process, the caterpillars of the domestic silkmoth are the most commonly used silkworm species in sericulture. Silkmoth is also known as Bombyx Mori. Mulberry plants and mulberry leaves play an essential role in sericulture. Also, it is a significant domestic industry in many countries. India and China are the world’s leading silk producers amongst all countries. The silk outcome of these two countries accounts for over 60% of global production.
