The Reign of Terror was between 1793 to 1794.
During this time frame, France was under the rule of Robespierre. He followed a policy of extreme control and punishment. His government eliminated all those it saw as opposition, including ex-nobles, clergy, and even the members of his party who disagreed with his plans. He made sure to crush all the revolutionaries as well. The maximum ceiling on wages and prices, food rations, and fixed costs were also carried out. Hence it was known as the period of rule under terror. Finally, Robespierre was arrested and convicted by the court in July 1794.
