The State Reorganization Commission released a report with suggestions for restructuring the Indian states on September 30, 1955. These were then discussed in the Indian Parliament. The State Reorganization Act was finally passed and made into law on August 31. On November 1st, 1956, the State Reorganization Commission went into force.
