Detailed Solution

Resistance of a metal conductor at temperature t0C is given by Rt=R01+αt,R0 is the resistance of the wire at 00C and α is the temperature coefficient of resistance.

Resistance at  500C,R50=R01+50α           ……….. (i)
Resistance at 1000C,R100=R01+100α        ……….. (ii)
From (i), R50R0=50αR0                      …………. (iii)
From (ii), R100R0=100αR0              ………… (iv)

Dividing (iii) by (iv), we get R50R0R100R0=12
Here, R50=5Ω  and R100=6Ω

          5R06R0=12 or, 6R0=102R0  or,  R0=4Ω
