The resolution of Poorna Swaraj was adopted at the Lucknow session of the Congress.
The arrival of the Simon Commission in India for the analysis of the functioning of the constitution and deciding the future course of the constitution was undermined by all parties of India. It was greeted by the slogan, "Go back, Simon." Lord Irwin secured a grant of Dominion Status and Round Table Conferences to win over the general masses to discuss the future constitution. It didn't satisfy Congress but made young Congress leaders like Nehru and Bose more assertive. In 1929, Nehru became President of the Congress session held at Lahore. At the Lahore session, Nehru put forward Purna Swaraj, or complete independence, as the ultimate demand of Congress.
