The Purna Swaraj declaration was adopted at the Lahore session of Congress on December 19, 1929. Then Purna Swaraj Diwas was announced on January 26, 1930. It was resolved during this meeting that the Round Table Conference would be boycotted and that civil disobedience would be initiated. Following the statement, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru flew the national flag in Lahore, which was before India's partition, and promised to bring India freedom. It also stated that a large civil disobedience movement would be launched. Every year, we commemorate the 26th of January as Republic Day.
