The revolutionary upheaval that took place in July 1830 was in France.
France saw a popular uprising in July 1830 which caused a revolutionary wave in Europe. Liberal revolutionaries restored the monarchs of the Bourbon dynasty who had been deposed during the French Revolution. Consequently, they established Louis Philippe as the head of a constitutional monarchy. Metternich reportedly said: "When France sneezes, the rest of Europe catches a cold,". Moreover, the July Revolution prompted Belgium to secede from the United Kingdom. The revolutions in France also stoked nationalist sentiments among the educated elite, and the independent Greek war was fought throughout Europe.
