Detailed Solution

The river Narmada has its source at Amarkantak. The Narmada River is one of only three large rivers in India that originates from the peninsula. It stretches from east to west. The other two are the Tapti River and the Mahi River. Due to its immense benefits to the states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, the river is called the "Life Line of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat." The Narmada River originates at a small dam known as Narmada Kund in the Anuppur region of Amarkantak on the Amarkantak Plateau.
