The roads and streets of Harappan cities intersect at right angles. At right angles where the roads and streets intersected, there were covered drains. On both sides of the streets and highways, houses were constructed. The dwellings and roadways in the Harappan urban centres were all carefully planned. Standard-sized fire-burned bricks were used to pave these roads. The main roadways were easy for carts to navigate since they were straight, broad (approximately 30 feet), and curved at the correct angles. Every home needed to have at least one wall along a street if the domestic wastewater was to drain into them. The roadway drains were connected to every home. Bricks were used to construct the major channels, which were then coated in loose bricks that could be taken off to be cleaned.
