The Russian population opposed the conflict. Russia left the conflict shortly after the Tzar was overthrown. In Russia, business owners severely abused their labour force. As a result, the working conditions for Russians were appalling. There was a pressing need for employees to take control of the enterprise. Furthermore, the Russian revolutionary pushed for equal treatment of non-Russian nationalities. The new government released a proclamation of the people granting their political autonomy shortly after the revolution.
