The Russian Social Democratic Labour Party was led by Lenin. It was established in 1898 by socialists who upheld Marx's principles. Russia could become a socialist nation faster than any other country because the peasants, not the workers, could be the foundation for a revolution. The socialists advocated for the rights of peasants and demanded that nobles cede their lands to peasants. Lenin believed that the peasantry was not a cohesive entity. Some were labourers, while others were capitalists who employed peasants; some were poor while others were wealthy. So, he made an effort to heal this division in order to advance the socialist cause.
