Detailed Solution

Concept- By considering 20% increase of his salary, from Rs.3,000 given his salary before. Then simplify the equation accordingly to get the value of x(assuming as present salary).
Step 1- Let the salary of the man before increasing, i.e. the  present salary be Rs x.
It is given that the present salary of the man is Rs 3000 after the increase in salary by 20%, from the percentage formula, we get,
20% of x+x=3000
20x/100+x=3000
Step 2- further solving the above equation, we get
 x/5+x =3000
6x = 3000×5
6x = 15000
x =15000/6
 x =2500
His salary before the increase was Rs 2,500.
Hence, the correct answer is option 4) 2500
