The samantas who left their traditional profession and took arms were Kadamba Mayurasharma and Harichandran. Kadamba started the Kadamba dynasty. These two brahmins were the ones who quit their occupation as brahmins and joined the military. Although they were both born brahmins, they took up weapons to conquer Rajasthan and Karnataka and create their states there. When they gave up being brahmins, they successfully built their kingdom in Rajasthan and Karnataka. Rajasthani regions like Mandor, Marwar, or the present-day Jodhpur were under the dominion of Harichandran.
