Detailed Solution

The Second World War was fought between the Axis and Allied powers.
Just two decades after the First World War's conclusion, the Second World War began. The Allies (Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the US) and the Axis powers (primarily Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italy) were engaged in the war. According to estimates, the war is thought to have killed at least 60 million people, or roughly 3% of the world's population in 1939. Soldiers died from war-related causes in much fewer numbers than civilians. Numerous cities were obliterated by aerial bombardment and artillery attacks, and large portions of Europe and Asia were devastated. The war wreaked enormous amounts of social unrest and economic destruction.
