Detailed Solution

The Second World War was fought between the Axis powers and the Allies. It was a global war because many nations were involved in it directly or indirectly. It was fought between the Axis powers, which mainly included Nazi Germany, Japan and Italy and the Allies, which included Britain, France, the Soviet Union and the US. The war lasted six long years over land, on the sea and in the air and was responsible for many disruptions. Two powers emerged in the aftermath of the war and became the two new centres of power that changed the world order. The first one was the US which rose as the dominant force of the West. The second one was the Soviet Union which rose as a powerful nation.
