Concept- Separation of sister chromatids takes place in Anaphase II. Meiosis occurs in two phases that are meiosis I and meiosis II. Meiosis is also called reductional division. It brings variations in a gene.
In anaphase II, sister chromatids of the homologous pair are separated and pulled away from each other towards opposite poles of the cells. In prophase I, chromosomes start condensing and pairing.
Meiosis II involves four stages that are prophase II, metaphaseII, anaphaseII and telophaseII. In anaphase II each chromosome has a single DNA.
