Detailed Solution

The series of changes in the twentieth century affected the pattern of industrialization in India.
Industrial production in India was not a sudden moment. Instead, it was the result of a series of changes in the Indian sphere.
1)      The swadeshi movement of the early 20th century gave a call for indigenous production. Foreign goods were boycotted and indigenous industries were established as alternatives to British goods.
2)      The export of Indian yarn to China declined by 1906. The Chinese and Japanese goods flooded Chinese markets. So the Indian industrialists turned to the production of cloth instead of yarn.
3)      The first world war also gave impetus to industrial growth. Many new factories were established to produce goods for war and fulfil the indigenous demand.
