The settlement of Maru Raikas is called Dhandi. They integrated cultivation with pastoralism. When the monsoon season comes around, the Raikas of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur stay where pasture is available for camels. These grazing grounds turn dry and exhausted by October, and then these communities move out, searching for water and pasture, and return to their home village when it is monsoon.
