Detailed Solution

It is given that the shadow of tower standing on a level ground is x m long when the Sun's altitude is 30°.
Now it becomes y m long when the altitude is 60°.
According to the given data the figure has been drawn below.
Question Image In CAD,
tanθ= Perpendicular base
tan30°=453/2x  x=4532×13      tan30°=13
x=1352m  ……..(1)
And in BAD,
tanθ= Perpendicular base
 tan60=4532y 3=4523y     tan60°=3
1=452y
 y=452  …….(2)
From eq. (1) and (2), x-y will be
1352-452
135-452
902
45
So the value of x-is 45 m.
So the correct option is 1.
