Detailed Solution

The Silappadikaram was composed by Ilango .
A famous Tamil epic, the Silappadikaram, was written around 1800 years ago by a poet named Ilango. It tells the story of Kovalan, a merchant from Puhar who fell in love with a courtesan named Madhavi while neglecting his wife, Kannagi. Later, he and Kannagi left Puhar for Madurai, where he was falsely accused of theft by the Pandya king's court jeweller. As a result, Kovalan was sentenced to death by the king. Kannagi, who still loved him, was enraged by this injustice and destroyed the entire city of Madurai.
