Detailed Solution

The Simon Commission was appointed in 1927.
It was formed to suggest constitutional reforms in India. Sir John Simon led the seven-member committee of this Commission. Indians boycotted this because there were no Indian members on this Commission. The arrival of the all-British member Commission united the country. All the parties boycotted the Simon Commission. However, the Commission submitted the report in 1930 and recommended abolishing the diarchy and retaining separate communal electorates.
