Detailed Solution

According to question, P + Q = 16…………(i)

P2+Q2+2PQcosθ=64

  tan900=QsinθP+Qcosθ............(ii)

or =QsinθP+Qcosθ

P+Qcosθ=0

or Qcosθ=P...........(iii)

From Eqs (ii) and (i), we get

P2+Q2+2P(P)=64

or Q2P2=64

or (QP)(Q+P)=64.............(iv)

Now from Eqs (i) and (iv), we get

or QP=6416=4............(v)

Adding, Eqs (i) and (v), we get

2Q=20

or Q=10  units

From Eq(i), P+10=16

or P=6  units
