In the process of filtration, when the impure mixture is filtered, the impurities remain on the filter paper fixed onto a funnel. Whereas, the liquid is obtained in a beaker below the funnel. The collected liquid, which has passed through a filter, is free from solid impurities and is known as a filtrate.
