Detailed Solution

Kanyakumari is the southernmost point of the Indian mainland. Kanyakumari is located at 8°4′ N latitude. It lies at the meeting point of the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean. It is a district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Laccadive Sea surrounds Kanyakumari's peninsular tip on three sides. When Britain ruled India, Kanyakumari was known as Cape Comorin. The Indian government then changed the name of the city to Kanyakumari.
