Detailed Solution

The spread of railways started in 1850.
The transportation of imperial armies and colonial trade depended heavily on railways. Search expeditions were dispatched to investigate India's forest riches by the 1820s. Within a decade, huge amounts of lumber were shipped from India, and trees fell tremendously. Since the 1850s, as railways expanded, there has been a new demand. Wood was required as fuel for locomotives, and sleepers were used to assemble railway tracks. Between 1,760 and 2,000 sleepers were needed for every mile of the railroad track. After the 1860s, the railway network quickly grew. About 25,500 km of track had been built by 1890. The rails' length had risen to more than 765,000 km by 1946.
