Detailed Solution

Pupa is the stage in which the silk thread is obtained from silkworms.
A silk moth egg must be kept in sanitary conditions and at the right temperature for them to develop. When the eggs hatch, the caterpillar, or silkworm, appears. They are given mulberry leaves to eat to enlarge. The two glands on their heads produce filaments, which they deposit on their bodies. The larva develops into a pupa inside this construction, termed a cocoon. To obtain silk, the pupa is then submerged in boiling water.
