Residuary subjects are legislated exclusively by the Union government. Subjects like computer software and e-commerce are examples of Residuary subjects. Residuary subjects came into existence after the Constitution was created, and thus they are not included in the three lists specified by the Constitution. The residuary power of the Central government gives it the power to legislate on subjects that were left out of the Constitution.
