The substance through which the light can pass partially is called translucent.
The material through which light passes partially and an object can be seen through it but not very clearly are called translucent materials. For example – muslin cloth. Butter paper and waxed paper are translucent materials, as we can see through them but not very clear as light passes through them partially. The materials which allow light to pass through it completely are called transparent. For example – water and air.
