Detailed Solution

The sulphurous acid turns blue litmus paper to red.
Sulphurous acid (H2SO3) is a dibasic acid that releases two hydrogens when dissolved in water. Litmus is a very widely used indicator as it can show a colour change when there is the presence of an acid or a base. The red litmus paper becomes blue when the substance is basic or alkaline. Litmus becomes red in acidic solutions while turning blue in simple ones. Since it’s an acid, it will change the blue litmus to red.
