Detailed Solution

It is given that the sum of three consecutive multiples of 8 is 888.
Let first multiple be x.
Second multiple be x+8x.
Third multiple be (x+8) +8=x+16.
The sum of multiples is 888.
Then the equation will be,
x+(x+8) +(x+16) =888
Simplifying the equation,
x+x+x+8+16=888 3x+24=888 3x=88824 3x=864
Divide both the sides by 3.
x= 864 3 x=288
Substitute the value of x to get the first, second, and third multiple of 8.
First multiple is x=288.
Second multiple is,
=x+8 =288+8 =296
Third multiple is,
x+16 =288+16 =304
Hence, the first multiple is 288, the second multiple is 296 and the third multiple is 304.
Correct option is 4.
