Let three numbers in A.P. be

a  d, a, a + d.

As 21 = (a  d) + a + (a + d) = 3a

a=7

Also, 7  d, 71, 7+d+1

.    62=(7d)(8+d)    36=56dd2    d2+d20=0    (d+5)(d4)=0d=5,4

As, 7  d, 6, 8 + d is an increasing G.P., d = 4. The

common ratio of the G.P. is

67d=674=2
