The supporters of the anguished Spartacist League later founded the Communist Party of Germany. With the process of political radicalisation in Germany post the First World War (1914 - 1918), Germany saw the birth of the Weimar Republic. But the emergence of the Weimar Republic also saw the revolutionary uprising of the Spartacist League which was based on the pattern of the Bolshevik Revolution of Russia. Further, after the Weimar Republic successfully suppressed the revolutionary uprising of the League, with the help of the organisation Free Corps, the Spartacists founded the Communist Party of Germany. The Communists and the Socialists became irreconcilable enemies.
