In Belgium, linguistic tensions occurred between the Dutch-speaking Flanders of the North and the French-speaking Wallonia of the South. The main cause behind this conflict was that the French-speaking people were much more wealthy and influential than the Dutch-speaking ones. Also, the Dutch communities were guaranteed educational rights and economic development much later. The system of Community government in Belgium is an example of the division of power among social groups. The amendments made are as follows-

The proportion of ministers from both linguistic groups should be equal.

Brussels has a separate government. In that government, both communities have equal representation. A single community is not allowed to make decisions unilaterally.
