The displacement of poor people from development sites impacts their livelihood badly. To counter such situations, groups are formed to protest against such development projects. Tawa Matsya Sangh is one such organization. The Tawa Matsya Sangh is an organization of fish workers in Madhya Pradesh. The Tawa reservoir rights were given to private contractors in 1994. These private contractors removed the local people and brought labour at the lowest cost from outside. Moreover, the villagers were not allowed to fish. Their fishing rights were taken away.
