The teachings of Mahavira were written about 1500 years ago. The Shwetambers and Digambers were the two sects of Jainism. The sacred literature of the Shwetamber is written in the Prakrit language, also known as Ardha Magadhi Prakrit, and is categorised as follows. The first is the 12 Angas, the second are the 12 Upangas, the third are the 10 Parikarnas, the fourth are the chheda sutras, the fifth is the Mula sutras, and the sixth and final are the sutra granthas. The oldest text of Mahavira's sermons is 14 purvas/parvas.
