Detailed Solution

The term 'apartheid' means racial segregation.
Apartheid defines as a partition on the bases of race. African people were separated into white, black, golden, Indian, and other races system of discrimination based on race. This division diminished their political and economic rights, unlike the white population. They were also treated like a slave with no self-respect left. These races were not even permitted to merge, not to stay with each other, or they were not even allowed to use ordinary facilities. The blacks were forced to do low-status work while the white population got good employment opportunities. Nelson Mandela fought against the apartheid system for an extended period.
