The term ‘Monsoon’ refers to the Reversal in the wind direction. A monsoon is a seasonal phenomenon associated with the Reversal in the direction of the winds during a particular year. India has the southwest direction of the monsoon winds travelling from the Indian Ocean towards the mainland of India from June to September and withdrawing at the end of October month going back from the Northern part of India to the Indian Ocean in the south; this Reversal in the direction of the wind is known as the monsoon.
