Detailed Solution

The Third Battle of Panipat was fought between the Marathas and Afghan monarch Ahmad Shah Abdali.
In Panipat, it happened on January 14, 1761. Afghan heavy-mounted artillery outperformed Maratha's small-mounted artillery on the battlefield by a wide margin. The fight stopped further Maratha gains in the north and caused their domains to become unstable. On January 14, 1761, Panipat saw the Third Battle of Panipat. Nearly 97 kilometres from Delhi, at Panipat (in Haryana), an encounter occurred between Maratha and invading Afghan forces. The Rohilla Afghans of the Doab and Shuja-ud-Daula assisted the Afghan king Ahmed Shah Durrani in leading his people.
