Cockroaches are insects that are common in many homes. They have a flat, oval-shaped body and a reddish-brown colour.

A cockroach's life cycle has three developmental stages: Egg, Nymph and Adult.

Egg: Depending on the species, cockroaches lay eggs in clusters or individually. The eggs are usually protected by a case called an ootheca.

The cockroach goes through several moults after hatching from the egg and emerges as a nymph. Nymphs resemble adults in appearance but are softer and lack full-wing development.

Adult: The nymph will reach its final stage of development and become an adult after several moults. Adults have fully developed wings and are capable of reproducing. At this stage, the cockroach reaches maturity and begins to play a role in the ecosystem.
