Detailed Solution

The tightening of East India Company control did not initially result in a decrease in Indian textile exports. The British cotton industry was still in its early stages, and Indian fine textiles were in high demand in Europe. As a result, the firm was eager to grow its Indian textile exports. The East India Company struggled to keep a consistent supply of goods for export before acquiring political power in Bengal and the Carnatic in the 1760s and 1770s. The market for woven textiles was contested by French, Dutch, Portuguese, and indigenous dealers. As a result, the weaver and supply merchants may bargain and attempt to sell the produce to the best consumer. In their response letters, company officials complained about supply issues and exorbitant expenditures.
